It was my last day in Prague and I was going to see if I could master the public transportation test I had set for myself. I checked out of my apartment at 10am and my flight wasn’t until 5pm. My plan was to walk to the train station, put my bags in a locker and then public transportation my way to the airport. It was another beautiful sunny day in Prague so the 20 minute walk to the station was no problem. It was also easier than I thought it would be to find the lockers! I found a big one that held all of my stuff for 6 hours for about $3! I left the train station and went for a wander. I found one last cafe for a latte and a pastry. Then I decided to find the dress shop I had wandered into a couple of days before. I found it, but didn’t love the dresses as much as I did a couple of days before. I went into Primark (a British shop known for cheap clothes) and found a white top that I could use on the ship.

Then I decided that what I really wanted to do was find that square I’d stumbled upon that looked like a fairy tale and have lunch at that Italian place in the middle. I had found it the other day just by wandering, so I didn’t know the name of the restaurant or exactly what it was. So I tried to wander in roughly the same direction, and I found it!

If this is what heaven is like, I will be so satisfied. All it needs is my kitty and some good friends.

I’d settle for wine and pasta and homemade vinegar, though.

Even the way to the bathroom was fancy!

Now my belly and my spirit were completely satisfied. I strolled through the Old Town Square one last time and made my way back to the train station.

I retrieved my bags, bought my 90 minute ticket, and took 2 subways and a bus to the airport.

At the airport, I went through immigration where they stamped my passport and then I went to wait by my gate. I thought about having one last Czech beer but my belly was too full. I worked on my blog, waiting until it was time to go to the gate when I realized I hadn’t gone through security! How had I missed that? The mask rule changed between my flight to the UK and my flight to Prague, so maybe they really did things differently here in the Czech Republic! Then I went to refill my water bottle and there was a sign saying, Remember! You haven’t been through security yet! So I didn’t fill it up.

So, at Heathrow you go through security and then you hang out by the Duty Free shops and the food and they don’t even tell you what your gate is until right before you go, then they tell you and you have just enough time to get there before you get on the plane. In Prague they do a similar thing except you go through security right outside the gate at the last minute! I found this fascinating. I was also really thirsty when I arrived in London because I couldn’t refill my water bottle on the other side.
