My views do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer.

At about 5pm the day before the Academy Awards, I was told that I would be in charge of running that event. The decorations were purchased, but I would have to put them up, put together a silver screen trivia, have a list of all the nominees so people could vote for who they thought would win, and come up with things to do during the commercial time.

We had paparazzi at the doors:

My Entertainment Director, Lisa Richard posing with the paparazzi
Jodie was there to help

We had a red carpet

and fancy cocktails

And, of course, an an ice Oscar sculpture

Everyone got dressed up, and filled out their voting sheets. People complained that they couldn’t see because the venue was too small (even though they could watch it in their staterooms) and I asked some Oscar trivia when the screen blanked out during the commercials (since we were at sea, the commercials didn’t play). Overall, it was deemed a success!
