The night before my birthday, I was getting itchy, as I usually do. It was time to start celebrating! Ana called me to her cabin and said we should have a drink there before we went to the bar. She kept making phone calls, but I was oblivious. Finally, someone gave her the okay and we went down to the bar. It was all decorated with balloons and signs!

I just loved it. I had pretty low expectations for celebrating my birthday on the ship, and this gesture made me feel really special.

I think at this point it was still pretty early. Kez (our Destination Expert) was there.
And then the whole team came down in time to count down to midnight (Jodie, Molly, Carolina, Micca, me, Ana and Mike). They know how much I love it when the whole team is together.

We didn’t party too late, though– I had a big plan for the next day. We managed to get a group together and off the ship without too many people heading out in various directions. We were in Martinique– one of my favorite islands.

Kez insisted that we stop and take a picture with the local ladies.

One thing I wanted for my birthday was a cappuccino off the ship and a chocolate croissant (since we were basically in France). We found a cute little cafe.

The cappuccino was disappointing, but the atmosphere was fantastic. There were chickens walking around, the service was slow, I was surrounded by my friends, and I was in such a great mood, nothing would spoil it.
Here we are on the dock waiting for the ferry to take us to the other side of the island.
Here are all my friends who joined me for my birthday! There’s Jin on the left from Canada (he’s the sound guy in the Princess theater), Carolina, Hailey (our Ocean Navigator from Canada) Melhia (my port buddy– she doesn’t do In Port Manning so she’s usually game to go have an adventure. She is also Fortuna Luck and the Pirate Queen, from Los Angeles) Milosh (Stage Crew from Serbia) Kez and Ana.
We had to take a picture from this angle too.
And here is our beach. The ship is there by the mountain. I mean, if I was going to have a birthday in the Caribbean, this wasn’t too shabby.
Here are the girls

We swam, played some UNO, some other people joined us (they took a later ferry) had lunch at the expensive restaurant, it rained.

My friend Jase was online and wished me a happy birthday. I sent him a picture to show him where I was.

It was pretty great. I was in a beautiful exotic place, surrounded by friends in an atmosphere where those things come and go. It was nice to have them for my birthday.
