On Sunday we went to the Eagle for a pint and ended up having a huge Roast dinner.  It was an evening of joy and indulgence!

Here are the desserts:

On Monday we drove to Blackpool so Rose and Danny could shoot some scenes for the BBC documentary they are working on.  Rose did her best to set my expectations of Blackpool very low.  Unfortunately for her, I love a road trip of any kind so I was very excited.  It blew my mind that we could drive across the whole country in 4 hours.  It was cold and windy in Blackpool, so we bundled up in our rain jackets and sweaters.  It was suggested that I climb the tower, but there didn’t seem to be much benefit in doing it at night.

Still, the tower was taller than I expected it to be.

In spite of my low expectations, I found Blackpool to be underwhelming.  The whole street was decorated with lights, but not quite enough lights for it to be impressive.

And it was cold!  I couldn’t figure out why all these people were here.

This is Rose and Danny filming a lit up street car as it passed by.

Afterward we went to an amazing Italian restaurant which made the whole trip entirely worthwhile.  The next day while Rose and Danny were filming I went on a walk along the beach.

And I found this lighthouse!

I think this was the most exercise I’d gotten since I’d left the ship!  It reminded me of my days of travel where I would walk all over the place.

I went back to the Italian place for lunch.

This sign at the airport seemed appropriate considering that it appears that I will be returning to the Caribbean.

When I got on the plane, it was another two story plane. I had booked a cheap flight so I remembered that I was on the isle this time.  I pulled my bag past the fancy First Class seats that recline, then the cushy Business Class seats.  Usually I go past those to the back of the plane where the small seats are wedged in in the back.  But this time my seat was in the back row of the medium comfort seats.  The flight attendant was coming down the row offering passengers champagne.  We hadn’t even closed the door yet!  I checked my ticket and compared it to the seat number.  It appeared that I was in the right place! I checked 3 more times, took a glass of champagne and waited for someone to come tell me that I was in the wrong seat.

Ron Voyage must have upgraded my seat.  I don’t even know how to do that!

Back in the nice town near Blackpool, Rose and Danny were back at the Italian restaurant missing me.
