When I put in a request to go on the Dolphin excursion, I didn’t think I would actually get it.  But I did!  We took a bus to the other side of the island and then we were given free time at the turtle place.

I watched the turtles swim around for a while and enjoyed the wifi.  These turtles were huge!  Much bigger than the ones we swam with when we went snorkeling.

Then we went over to the dolphin place.  A group of us waded into the water and the guide told us about the dolphins while we waited for our turn to play with them.  I learned that dolphins shed their skin every 2 hours.

There were two mommies and two babies in our pool.  The mommies were very protective of their babies.  This is one of the babies.

They’re learning to do tricks.

This is the mommy.

I can’t remember the details, but we were reassured that this was a good place for dolphins– either they were being prepared to go back in the wild or they weren’t safe in the wild and they were protecting them.  They get plenty of time to rest and don’t spend too much time entertaining tourists.

Can you tell how much fun I’m having?
