On Tuesday morning I said goodbye to the Hillside House
And we drove to Burlington, where we found Lake Champlain.
There’s a lighthouse!
It was beautiful, breezy and cold. I had found a podcast about visiting Vermont and it had a few suggestions of places to visit in the Burlington Area. The August 1st Bakery (it opened on August 1st) was a great stop for lunch– soups, salads, sandwiches and awesome seasonal pastries. I had to try an apple cider donut before I left Vermont. I was dropped off at the tiny airport in Burlington to fly back early for a house sitting gig.
In under 15 minutes I was through security and at my gate. I was flabbergasted. My gate was even closer to security than the water fountain!
Meanwhile, my mom and Wendy took some of my suggestions of things to do from the podcast and did a bit more sightseeing. They went to the causeway, which is a little strip of land you can walk out on the lake and it feels like you’re walking on water.
The view
And then they went to Shelburne Farm. My mom said they should have gone to the farm first, because most of the attractions were closed by the time they got there.
But Wendy still got to feed the goats
And they found a black kitty for me!
