On the way to the next stop, we drove by a castle that has been converted into a hotel. The presidential suite is one of the most expensive (might be the most expensive) hotel room in Ireland. It’s where famous people like heads of state and actors stay. We drove by the entrance.
Our next stop was the adorable town of Cong, known for being the place where The Quiet Man was filmed.
This was the film that brought tourism to Ireland. They even built a statue in honor of the movie:
This town was gorgeous
It had some ruins, of course,
A river that flowed under the buildings,
A house for ducks,
And since I still had 20 minutes before I needed to be back on the bus, an Irish coffee.
I started thinking that I would really like to have one of these Irish ponchos.
But then I thought it might be because I was in the area. You know, when you go to Hawaii and realize that you need to own more clothes covered in flowers and then you go home to real life and never wear those things? I don’t even know what my real life is going to look like! Plus there isn’t even room in my suitcase for the sweatshirt I did bring!
Back on the bus, we continued our tour through the Connemara, a beautiful region on the west coast.
We stopped to look at this house and contemplate about living there with so many people– you know, when families would have 8-10 kids and they’d live in a building with 2 rooms.
More spectacular views
The bus driver promised he wouldn’t run over the sheep
These are oyster farms
This is peat– what they use to fuel their houses.
