I was warned that there would be lines for the Eiffel Tour. And my mom rubbed it in that Ron Voyage had gotten them tickets timed perfectly at sunset so they could see all of Paris in the day, the sunset and then see Paris lit up at night. By the time I decided when I would be in Paris, all the reservations were sold out. So I had to be strategic. I thought if I went on a Tuesday night and got there in plenty of time, I would have a chance to have the optimal experience. I arrived at the tower at 8pm for a 9:40pm sunset. There was no line. So I took LOTS of pictures and got the absolute most out of my tour.
I’m here!
I’m going to go stand in line over there!
From the Trocadero
From the bottom
The Seine was really pretty
Who knew there were little open areas in the middle of these big buildings?! Or a sport field?
The Trocadero– I was over there!
The Sacre Coeur- Where I was on Saturday!
Notre Dame– Where I was on Friday!
The shadow of the Eiffel Tower!
Imagine living there!
There’s the subway where I first saw the Eiffel Tower!
There’s a video on Facebook riding up to the top, but it wouldn’t upload here.
I’d heard there was a champagne bar at the top, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate!
I sipped champagne as the sun went down over the next hour
Here are all the other people taking photos of the sunset:
The Seine turned pink!
On the lower level of the highest tower (where it wasn’t so windy) it there was a diagram showing buildings from all over the world (in their general direction) and how tall they were compared to the Eiffel Tower. It was fun to imagine those places being in that direction far far away.
Here is the Eiffel Tower:
The Empire State Building is taller:
The Golden Gate Bridge is shorter:
Notre Dame all lit up:
Champs Elysees:
Mr. Eiffel in his office on the top:
I thought you might be able to see this red light from the bottom, but you can’t.
Back down to level 2:
It was totally worth waiting 3 hours to see everything all lit up
Back down to the bottom
From the Bridge
And back where I started
This is where I changed trains. Cheers to Hamilton, Lafayette and Daveed Diggs!
